When it comes to feeding your little ones, mealtimes can be a battle. However, you can make these challenging moments easier for yourself by getting creative in the kitchen and involving your children in the meal preparation process.

Meal preparation is a great way to save time and ensure they are still eating well. It’s also a great opportunity to get them involved and spend some time together. You may find that if they are helping you prepare their food, they’re more likely to eat it!

We recommend a few different creative meal prep ideas that will help get you and your mini helpers started this school term.

Fruit Kebabs

One of our favourite meal prep ideas are fruit kebabs. Pick out some fun cookie cutter shapes with your children and let them experiment with seasonal fruits such as apples and mandarins. Simply place the fruit on a skewer and you're ready to go!

Sandwich Cut Outs

You can also transform any sandwich into something extraordinary but using a cookie cutter. While you prepare the sandwich fillings, have them cut the bread. They will love showing off their fun shaped sandwiches so much that you might even be able to sneak in some spinach without them noticing!

For packing up your fruit kebabs or sandwich cut outs, we love using Crocodile Creek’s Eat Range. The Sandwich Keeper comes in a variety of styles and is perfect for healthy snacks on the go. They are eco-friendly, reusable food containers that are perfect to pop in your bag when heading out and about. Get yours here.

Born With Style Baby Tubs are also great little tubs for taking dipping sauces or dried fruit out on the go – perfect for picnics!  These tubs contain multiple flip-top secure tubs to keep food separated. They are also dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe.

Spaghetti Monster

For a more substantial meal, this fun pasta is one of our favourite dishes for the little ones – just mix green pesto in with spaghetti and decorate with olives for the eyes and a slice of red pepper for the mouth. This is also a great easy lunchbox filler to make sure that your kids have a healthy and filling meal in school or kindy.

Frosted Donuts

When it comes to dessert, it doesn’t get much better than a snowman frosted donut. Simply take a frosted donut and get the kids to try and use icing to add eyes and a smile. Place an orange lolly for the nose and you’re wintery dessert is complete!

We’ve been using Crocodile Creek’s range of Big Kid Bowls to avoid creating any mess in the kitchen. These beautifully decorated pieces make meal time more entertaining for your little ones and less stressful for you. Crocodile Creek’s fun designs are also available in a matching range of meal time products and back to school wear, including a backpack, lunchbox, drink bottle and more!
